June 2021

Here’s a quick update on what’s coming up and how you can get involved!

So where to start…

Current restrictions – we have updated our RYA Scotland guidance, applicable from 17th May, as most of mainland Scotland moves into Level 2 and a number of our Island Communities move into Level 1. This links to the Scottish Government information that has been released to support their easing of lockdown restrictions. The key changes are around ‘bubble’ sizes for activity – they are increasing – as well as the daily limits allowed at clubs/centres/venues and further ‘event’ guidance.

It is hoped the move to ease restrictions will continue with a further movement down the levels in early June and into Level 0 in late June, however it does not mean a complete return to normality, there is also the chance we can stay the same (as with Moray) or go up levels therefore, certain guidance and restrictions will remain in place throughout the summer. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

New North Regional Development Officer – Ryan Beattie

We are delighted to welcome the latest recruit to the Participation and Development Team – Ryan Beattie. He brings a variety of sports and club development background to the newest post in our organisation. Further information on both Ryan and the team will be out shortly – keep an eye on our news pages!

As lockdown eases, the whole Participation & Development Team will be looking to get out and about to meet clubs, organisations and centres throughout Scotland so please let us know of any suitable opportunities for us to pop by and say hello!

RYA Scotland Strategic Review

As part of RYA Scotland’s strategic review we have held several online sessions from 13th April until this week (last one was 13th May). However, there is still a chance to get your point across and help shape the ‘direction’ of the organisation through our online survey. This will run until the end of the month and we would ask that your share the details of the survey with all your members.

RYA Affiliated Clubs Conference

We are now starting to plan the content for both the Affiliated Clubs Conference and Club Development Sessions programme and we would really value your help with ideas for how we ensure these events remain useful and relevant to clubs. This is your opportunity to feed in the ideas that you have always wanted to learn more about so that you can improve the offering your club gives to its members or potential members.

There is no such thing as a bad idea at this stage, together we will find the information and ideas that you are looking for. Let us know what you think!

We look forward to catching up with you all soon,

Take care and stay safe!

The Development Team, aka Robin, Georgia, Ryan & Liza
