About the role

Our full season contracts are from the beginning of February 2022 and will run until the middle of November 2022. We often offer the opportunity for seasonal staff to extend through November and occasionally the whole winter.

Our Instructors are responsible for providing high quality outdoor learning experiences to our customers, whilst ensuring the safety of all participants. This will involve delivering a range of land and water based activities, as well as ensuring all parts of the customer visit run smoothly. You may also be required to be on-call overnight on occasions.

About you

We are looking for dedicated and motivated individuals who are committed to developing themselves and others. They must be focused on delivering the best service to our customers, a smile and a sense of humour are a must!
We will be looking for the following in our ideal candidate:
• A passion for outdoor learning.
• At least one of the following Instructor qualifications: RYA Dinghy Instructor, RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor, BC/UKCC Level 1 Canoe/Kayak Coach or Paddlesport Instructor, Single Pitch 
  Award/Rock Climbing Instructor or Climbing Wall Award/Instructor
• Valid First Aid qualification.
• The ability to provide safe, purposeful and fun sessions that meet the needs of our clients.
• Able and confident to communicate well with both adults and children.

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

RYA SAILING INSTRUCTORS wanted for 2022 season and beyond. We operate two sail training vessels in Chichester harbour – a 30’ Westerly Renown and a 43’ Standfast.

We can offer two full time RYA qualified Instructor posts:- one from March to October, the other from April to September 2022, each to include working at least 2 weekends per month.

Paid induction at the beginning of the season with continuing support and professional development. To include non-RYA work: own boat tuition, community sails, sailing trips as well as other company tasks according to your interests and skills. We ask for commitments to dates once agreed with you, with an opportunity to input into the schedule 

Pay & conditions

£110/day(CI) or £130/day(YMI) instructing + £20/night onboard with clients + reasonable expenses, freelance or PAYE

Option of joining an established workers’ co-operative

Potential to develop own projects within the organisation

Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

JSASTC is recruiting enthusiastic and outgoing Sailing Instructors to deliver RYA Offshore courses to Service Personnel as part of a team of 20 sailing staff at JSASTC operating from the MOD services offshore sailing centre based in Gosport. Suitable candidates will have a strong sailing background, high standards, and excellent inter-personal skills. Instructional experience is ideal, but newly qualified Instructors are welcome to apply. Up to 20 weeks per annum pro rata on water training delivery is required with the balance of working days spent on yacht maintenance and/or delivering RYA classroom training. Sailing activity is only delivered Mon to Fri – weekend sailing activity is not conducted. Normal non sailing working hours are Mon to Thu 0800-1630hrs, Fri 0800-1600hrs.

Essential: Up to date RYA Yachtmaster Instructor or Cruising Instructor with at least one year remaining before revalidation, up to date First Aid, Commercial endorsement and ML5 with at least six months. 

Desirable: Classroom, Diesel, First Aid, Radar or Sea Survival Instructor.
