100 days to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Olympic anticipation is mounting, with just 100 days now remaining until the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games (26 July). 

For the British Sailing Team’s selected athletes, this milestone marks the final stretch of intense preparation as they set their sights on the podium and writing their own chapters in Team GB sailing’s rich history when they take to the iconic waters of Marseille this summer.

The Roucas Blanc Olympic Marina officially opened earlier this month and will welcome 330 athletes in 10 sailing disciplines across 12 days of competition (28 July-8 August).

Thirteen British athletes are now confirmed on the Games teamsheet, with each bringing their own unique blend of experience, expertise and passion to the team, united by a common goal: to bring home Olympic gold.

Saskia Tidey (women’s skiff) and Chris Grube (mixed dinghy) are heading to their third Olympics, with talented first-timers alongside them in the form of Freya Black and Vita Heathcote respectively.

John Gimson-Anna Burnet (mixed multihull) and Emma Wilson (women’s windsurfer) will be featuring at their second Games, and going all out to upgrade their silver and bronze medals from Tokyo.

The remaining selected athletes – Micky Beckett (men’s dinghy), Hannah Snellgrove (women’s dinghy), Ellie Aldridge (women’s kite), Sam Sills (men’s windsurfer) and James Peters-Fynn Sterritt (men’s skiff) – will be Olympic debutantes, aiming to convert their impressive performances on the world circuit into success on the biggest stage of all.

Only one British berth now remains up for grabs, in the men’s Formula Kite event. Leading rider Connor Bainbridge will be hoping to qualify the nation and himself later this month at the ‘Last Chance Regatta’ taking place in Hyères, France (21-27 April).  Young talents Mattia Maini and Sam Dickinson will also be in action looking to upset the formbook.

If you haven’t yet booked to see history unfold in Marseille, the final wave of Games tickets are on sale from 9.00am BST on Wednesday 17 April, in what is expected to be one of the last opportunities to secure seats across all sports.
